If you are looking for young and fresh looking skin, a chemical peel is the quick way to improve your skin appearance!
What is a Chemical Peel?
Peels improve the texture of the skin and increase the cell turnover rate (CRF*), reduces build up of old skin cells, improves hydration, barrier function, moisture, increases elastin (important for skin elasticity), and encourages collagen production (gives the skin its strength and volume) as well as improving fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, pigmentation and acne.
The chemical solution usually used is an acid which removes the top layers of the epidermis in order to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin in the underlying dermal skin layer.
Chemical peels have been safely used for decades and are a highly popular way to improve the texture and look of skin. There are a wide variety of peels available. Each peel has its own unique benefits as well as risks and is chosen depending on the skin type and skin condition.
* CRF (Cell Renewal Factor), or cell turnover rate slow down with age and takes 14 days for babies, 21-28 for teens, 28-42 for middle age and 42 -84 days for 50 and older to renew.
