Restless Leg Syndrome

Restless Leg Syndrome is the name given to a chronic functional problem where the patient suffers from involuntary movements of the lower extremities. They may also experience aching legs and muscle spasms. It may be associated with other functional problems like fatigue, irritable bowl syndrome, and hormonal imbalances.

Restless Leg Syndrome is usually caused by excessive acidity in the tissues of the muscle while at the same time, excessive alkalinity in the blood. Some of the contributing causes may be sub clinical hypothyroidism, low blood pressure, dietary imbalances and other hormonal and metabolic imbalances.

Symptomatic treatment may temporarily improve symptoms; however the underlying cause of the problem should not be ignored. Only by finding and treating the root cause of the problem will lead to a successful outcome.

There are many myths being perpetuated in the natural healing circles that “everyone is too acidic, we all need to be more alkaline”. This is absolutely not true.  Consequently, many people are taking supplements and/or following diets in an attempt to make themselves more alkaline. If you have Restless Leg Syndrome, not only will this not help, it may be contributing to your problem.
