Dietary Advice

Women that suffer from PMS should be very careful about consuming certain food products. Polyunsaturated vegetable oils (which are high in omega-6 fatty acids) can exacerbate PMS by adversely affecting prostaglandin balance. Also sugar, high carbohydrate and low fat, low protein diets can contribute to this problem. Patients should avoid all vegetable oils except olive oil and coconut oil. Caffeine in the form of coffee, tea, soda and chocolate can also worsen PMS symptoms.
